Fuck Stallman Foundation
Richard Stallman is not Free Software's future. He's Free Software's past.
Principles
We at the Fuck Stallman Foundation believe strongly in three principles.
1. Free Software is more important than ever.
The internet is consolidating and the majority of activity now takes place in a small number of walled gardens. Billionaires are buying social media companies, buying traditional publishers, and using their influence to shoot down presidential endorsements. Mass internet surveillance is ubiquitous and ALL car manufacturers collect user data. Right to repair remains a pitched battle.
In the world we live in Free Software and its liberating potential is more important than ever.
2. Richard Stallman is unfit to lead Free Software.
Thanks to the exhaustive documentation provided by the Stallman Report, it is abundantly clear that, despite his numerous contributions to Free Software, Richard Stallman is unfit to lead the Free Software community.
3. The Free Software Foundation has failed us.
By keeping Richard Stallman on its board, the Free Software Foundation has lost the trust of many people in the Free Software community. It can no longer be expected to carry the torch for Free Software.
Recommendation
Since Free Software is more important than ever, but the Free Software Foundation isn't fit to lead that effort, the Fuck Stallman Foundation would like to encourage the Free Software community to support and create institutions which fill the roles the Free Software Foundation used to without involving Richard Stallman and those who support him.
Please consider supporting organizations like
- The Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) - a foundation taking on many of the responsibilities the Free Software Foundation used to be associated with, but with a clear position that Richard Stallman Does Not and Cannot Speak for the Free Software Movement.
- The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) - an independent organization from The Free Software Foundation that has made a strong stance calling for Richard Stallman's resignation.
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) - an organization focused on defending digital civil liberties who has asked for Stallman to resign or be removed.
We are not affiliated with or in contact with any of the listed organizations in any way and they did not ask for this endorsement.
